Description
Our unique experience, “Secret Japan Cooking Workshop,” brings you into the kitchens of Japan, with local experts guiding you through traditional techniques and sharing culinary stories that bring Japanese cuisine to life. You’ll learn to prepare dishes such as a Japanese breakfast with tamagoyaki (Japanese omelet), miso soup, onigiri, and other regional specialties. From newcomers to seasoned cooks, all are welcome to enjoy a fun and memorable way to experience Japanese culture.
Tokyo Cooking Workshops
Our Tokyo cooking workshops take place in the heart of the city’s culinary scene. Here, you’ll learn to make the iconic Japanese breakfast, including fluffy tamagoyaki, miso soup, and onigiri. For those craving a savory delight, try preparing karaage, a Japanese fried chicken dish coated in crispy panko breadcrumbs. To round off the day, consider combining this workshop with our Tokyo Food Tour to sample some of the city’s street food highlights.
Kyoto Cooking Workshops
Our Kyoto cooking workshops introduce you to the elegance of Kyoto’s cuisine, often held in comfortable and welcoming environments. Under the guidance of Kyoto locals, you’ll make dishes that showcase seasonal ingredients, such as yudofu (tofu hot pot) and tsukemono (Japanese pickles). Combine your workshop with our Kyoto Food Tour to further explore the city’s culinary traditions.
Osaka Cooking Workshops
Our Osaka cooking workshops capture the spirit of Japan’s “kitchen city” with its bold flavors and comforting dishes. Learn to prepare Osaka’s popular okonomiyaki (savory pancake) or takoyaki (octopus balls), two local favorites that bring out the city’s lively food culture. After cooking, our Osaka Food Tour is a fantastic option to explore more of Osaka’s unique dishes and flavors with a local guide.
From Kanazawa to Nagano Cooking Workshops
The experience along the Kanazawa to Nagano route brings you closer to traditional rural cooking. In Kanazawa, try your hand at preparing dishes influenced by fresh seafood and local vegetables, such as kaisen-don (seafood bowl) or nimono (simmered vegetables). In Nagano, workshops often feature heartier fare, such as soba (buckwheat noodles) or oyaki (savory stuffed dumplings), which reflect the region’s mountainous landscape and agricultural heritage. To enrich your experience further, combine the workshop with our Secrets of Kanazawa Tour or Secrets of Nagano Tour.
This workshop is a wonderful activity for all levels, whether you’re a solo traveler, couple, or family. Each session is carefully arranged by our Secret Japan team, ensuring a smooth and engaging experience. For those wanting a deeper dive, our Secrets of Sushi Making Workshop and Secrets of Mochi Making Workshop are available in select locations for specialized learning.
